Privacy
charactr, inc. (“charactr”, “we”) runs charactr.com. This page explains what we collect on this site, why, and what you can ask us to do with it. It’s short because we collect very little.
What we collect
- When you request early access: your email address, plus anything optional you choose to tell us (like your name, your show or IP, a project description, whether you are publishing, social/content links, your company or studio and its website, your audience size, your role, and the “tell us more” answers).
- When you contact us: your name, email, company (optional), what it’s about, and your message.
- With each form you send: the page and referring site you came from, any campaign tags in the link (like
utm_source), your browser’s user agent, and your approximate country. We don’t store your IP address.
If you choose “Allow analytics”, we use Google Analytics to measure page visits, traffic sources, approximate countries, devices and whether forms are opened or successfully saved. Google Analytics uses cookies to distinguish visits, with a lifetime of up to 180 days. We do not send the contact details or answers you enter in our forms, or your submission identifier, to Google Analytics, and we do not use it for advertising personalization. Analytics stays off until you allow it.
Your analytics choice and light or dark theme choice are saved in your own browser. You can change your analytics choice using “Analytics preferences” in the footer. Declining analytics does not affect the forms.
How we use it
- To review early-access requests and let creators in a few at a time.
- To email you about early access and charactr news. Every email lets you unsubscribe.
- To reply when you contact us.
- To understand which links bring people to the site and, if you allow analytics, how visitors use it.
We don’t sell your information, and we don’t share it for advertising.
Where it’s stored
The site is hosted by Vercel. Form submissions are stored in a private Supabase database so our team can review early-access requests and contact messages. We also send your submitted contact details and answers, with source information and approximate country, to our team’s Slack inbox channel for review. If you allow analytics, Google processes site-usage measurements for us. These providers process data under their own terms and security practices. How long we keep it
We keep your information while early access is running or until you ask us to delete it, whichever comes first. A deletion request includes the copies in our database and Slack inbox.
Google Analytics event data is retained for two months. Google may retain aggregate reports for longer. Changing your choice stops future analytics collection in this browser and removes its Google Analytics cookies; it does not erase measurements already collected.
Your choices
You can ask us to show you, correct, or delete what we hold about you, or to stop emailing you, at any time. Use Talk to us and pick “Something else”. Emails from us include an unsubscribe link.
Children
charactr.com isn’t directed to children under 13, and we don’t knowingly collect their information.
Changes
If we change how we handle your information, we’ll update this page and the date at the top.
